SMALL BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT LAW CLINIC

Credit Hours: 2-4
Description: The Clinic is located at 112 West Pike Street in Covington. Students may sign up for 2 credits (100 total hours), 3 credits (150 total hours) or 4 credits (200 total hours, exceptional circumstances only). Students who have successfully completed one semester of the SBNLC may also sign up for Advanced Small Business and Nonprofit Law Clinic. Students work with small businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit entities on basic legal matters of a transactional nature. Most students do work for 2-3 clients during a semester, providing exposure to a variety of business and legal issues. Coursework includes one weekly class meeting. Students must have completed at least 60 credit hours and have taken, or be concurrently enrolled in, business organizations. Preference is given to students who have taken professional responsibility. Day and evening program students are welcome. Clinic students must be available for a mandatory 8-hour training the Saturday before the semester begins.
Prerequisite: Completed 60 Credit hours; Completed or currently inrolled in Business Organizations. Preference given to Professional Responsibility.
