Professor Jeffrey A. Standen served as dean of Chase College of Law from July 2013 through May 2018, and continues teaching as a professor of law. Prior to joining the Chase faculty, he was associate dean for academic affairs and faculty research and held the Van Winkle Melton Professorship in Law at Willamette University College of Law. He has taught as a visiting professor and served as scholar-in-residence at the University of San Diego and University of Virginia, respectively.
After graduation from law school, Professor Standen served as a judicial clerk for Judge Robert F. Chapman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit at Richmond, Virginia. Before beginning his academic career, he practiced as an associate for four years with the litigation group of the Hunton & Williams law firm, and then served for one year as deputy general counsel of the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
He earned a Juris Doctor at the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in political philosophy at Georgetown University.
