Description: This course studies the role and function of the federal courts. The topics covered in this course will include justiciability of disputes; abstention and related doctrines; Congress, Article III jurisdiction, and non-Article III tribunals; federal question and diversity jurisdiction; federal common law; review of state court decisions; civil rights and the Eleventh Amendment; and federal habeas corpus for state prisoners.
