Description: This course will explore topics relating to law and the environment, including biodiversity loss, diminishing water resources, alternative energy sources, the connection between energy sources and water, land use implications for both energy consumption and sustainability, accumulation and disposal of waste, and legal attempts to avert global climate change and to compensate for the resulting injuries.  In place of a casebook, the course will utilize a number of resources, including cases; articles from newspapers, law reviews, and scientific journals; excerpts from books; and documentary films.  Each student will make a presentation regarding his or her paper topic and then submit the completed paper at the end of the semester.
