The course is offered for students who are interested in exploring in-depth the trial and post-trial stages of the criminal justice process. This part of the criminal process, sometimes referred to as "from bail to jail" examines what occurs after the investigative stage has been completed, when an individual has been officially charged with a criminal offense. Some of the topics include pre-trial release; prosecutorial discretion; the right to a speedy trial; discovery and disclosure; and double jeopardy.
