Drawing on the resources and talents of a unique partnership of practicing lawyers, faculty members, and business persons, the Transactional Law Practice Center provides leadership, best practices, practical skills training, and substantive education in the focus area of transactional law to law students and recently admitted attorneys.
Transactional law cuts across many fields of law, including business and commercial law, environmental law, real estate law, immigration law, adoption law, and intellectual property. Basically, transactional law includes all areas of the law except for litigation and alternative dispute resolution. In addition to being excellent problem solvers, transactional lawyers are often hired by clients to prevent problems and maximize client resources.
The center focuses on providing students and recently admitted attorneys with the skills needed to practice transactional law:
The center offers suggested course schedules, skills-building workshops, simulations, field placement, opportunities to compete in scholastic competitions, and other programs that students will need to best serve transactional law clients. Other programs are offered in allied disciplines, such as accounting, human resources, insurance, and corporate finance, to those students who are interested in commercial transactions.
"We have a very strong bench of faculty that teach the basic doctrinal courses in a very solid manner. In addition …Chase has been particularly focused on building and developing practice oriented education."
