Chase students get a sense early of what it is like to present a case in court. Doug Tumeo won the college’s opening statement competition for first-year students Oct. 26 and Bianca Rudnick was the runner-up. About 50 students participated, either as competitors or judges. The case: A negligent hiring and supervision claim, consisting of a 75-page file of exhibits, depositions and expert opinions from which students developed their individual opening statements.
