Northern Kentucky University has selected Chase Professor David Singleton to receive its university-wide outstanding professor award for work that reflects the university’s mission. Professor Singleton will receive the Frank Sinton Milburn Outstanding Professor Award for 2018 as both a law clinic mentor and a classroom professor. He directs the Chase Constitutional Litigation Clinic, in which students gain courtroom experience by representing prisoners and former prisoners in claims of civil rights abuses, and this past year also taught Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure. Clinic students say he prepares them so thoroughly for oral arguments in appeals courts that judges rarely ask them questions they had not anticipated. The university award was created in 1970 and later endowed by Dr. Carol Swarts Milburn and renamed the Frank Sinton Milburn Outstanding Professor Award to honor the life and memory of her husband.
