Professor Bickers Earns Professor of Year Award

Professor John Bickers

Professor John Bickers will receive the Chase Professor of the Year Award for 2018. Members of the graduation class selected him for the award because he represents all of the best in a law professor: He is knowledgeable, professionally engaged, and approachable.

He teaches his Constitutional Law classes in a well-organized, thoughtful manner, yet with an inviting style. He typically begins, not with a ponderous intonation, but with music. When the recorded music, which is playing as students arrive and often reflects the day’s topic, stops is when class begins.

Outside the classroom, he engages in legal research and writing that enhances his ability to convey to students both traditional legal concepts and new approaches. He has published articles in significant law reviews and written amicus curiae briefs.

Prior to joining the Chase faculty in 2006, Professor Bickers served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps, and taught courses in law at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He previously received the Professor of the Year Award in 2016.
