Community Outreach

Communities often look to the lawyers in their midst for leadership in shaping the effects of government on the life of the community, and the communities of Northern Kentucky are looking to Chase for this kind of leadership. Among the projects in which the center is involved include the following.

Vision 2015

Vision 2015Offsite Link derives its name from the strategic plan for Northern Kentucky released in April 2006. The plan, the product of a year-long visioning process that sought input from nearly 2,000 people throughout the region, identified six strategic goals Northern Kentucky must meet if it is to enjoy economic prosperity and a higher quality of life. The center took an active part in the work of the Effective Governance Action Team. Now the challenge is to identify and address the legal impediments to attaining those goals. The Local Government Law Center and its interns are taking on that challenge.

Covington Ward System Committee

The city of Covington established a committee to study the system by which it selects the members of the city commission. It named Prof. Phillip Sparkes, the center’s director, as a member of the Ward System Study Committee.
