Databases
The Chase Law Library provides access to numerous databases and indexes in the fields of law, government, business, and general research. You will find "databases and indexes" in other fields when linking to the Steely Library web site or to the Kentucky Virtual Library page.
Remember: These resources can be accessed in a number of ways: remotely, on campus, or in the Law Library. While the electronic databases are available to everyone when conducting research in the Law Library, some have access restrictions for off campus use. The access restrictions, described below, are located at the end of each database title.
- Remote: The library subscribes to resources which can be accessed off campus by NKU students, faculty and staff. Remote Access allows authorized users to access these databases from off campus. Remote access requires the entry of a valid Northern Kentucky University username and password prior to linking to the resource.
- Campus: The library subscribes to a few databases that can be accessed only when on the NKU campus.
- Chase: The Library subscribes to databases that can be accessed only while at the law library. Remote access is available to Chase students and faculty.

AudioCaseFiles offers downloadable MP3 files of court opinions as well as streaming trial videos. Your law school email address gives you unlimited access to this subscription service.

To register go to http://www.audiocasefiles.com/register/. Choose a member in step one and school in step two. Then select our school from the list, complete the form and submit. You will receive an email verification. - BNA - Bureau of National Affairs [Chase Access]
- Web based access to a wide range of BNA products. Sample topics include: employment and labor, health care, environment, intellectual property, and tax. Public access via the computer terminals located on the 2nd Floor of the Law Library. Access is available on campus to all patrons of the law library. Off campus access is only available to Chase faculty and students.

- CALI - The Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction [Chase Access]
- The law school is a member of the CALI Consortium, which is a group that promotes computer assisted legal instruction. CALI offers more than 600 interactive, computer-based lessons covering 33 areas of law. You can register to access the web based CALI lessons and the web address is http://www.cali.org. You will need a student access code to begin your registration process. The student access code can be obtained from from the Reference Librarian 859-572-6484 or email furnish@nku.edu.

- Provides access to full-text law journals, the Federal Register, U.S. Code, U.S. Treaties and Agreements, U.S. Presidential Library, U.S. Attorney General Opinions, selected federal legislative histories, state session laws, a Legal Classics collection, and international law resources. The online documents are image based or high resolution reproductions of the original hardcopy. The resource covers both historic and current information.

- KYVL provides access to databases covering the arts & humanities, business & economics, education, general reference, science & medicine and social sciences.
- LegalTrac [Remote Access]
- Provides citations to articles published in law reviews and legal newspapers. Coverage is 1980 to present.
- LLMC- DIGITAL [Chase Access]
- A cooperative effort to preserve titles of interest to researchers in the areas of law and history. The historic collection includes legal treatises and primary resources for both federal and state governments.
- Loislawschool.com [Chase Access]
- Loislaw is a web based collection of federal and state statutes, regulations, and case decisions. Many law firms are using this research tool as a cheaper alternative to LexisNexis or Westlaw.

- SSRN - Social Science Research Network [Remote Access]
- The SSRN eLibrary contains working and accepted papers in the fields of finance/economics, accounting research, legal scholarship, economic research and management research. The public can access most of the information for free by going to the SSRN home page and selecting the 'SSRN eLibrary' or by choosing 'Search and Download Papers' on the function bar. The Law Library focuses on the Legal Scholarship Network portion of the service.

- The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County offers numerous research databases. A library card and PIN number is required to access the databases remotely. Review the library web site for further details.

- Offers public access to case decisions, statutes, and regulations for federal and state jurisdictions. Includes the KeyCite feature to update your research. There are three dedicated Westlaw workstations on the 2nd Floor of the Law Library.

- Provides the bibliographic records of books, journal titles, newsletters, web sources, and other materials owned by libraries worldwide.
