Chase has offered a field placement / externship program since 1975. This program has become increasingly important and popular over the past few years. In addition, Chase now offers a semester-in-practice program, in which students can immerse themselves in a semester-long placement, earning a maximum of twelve credit hours, in order to obtain a thorough understanding of how a particular government agency, business, non-profit, or other entity functions on a day-to-day basis. These placements can be located anywhere in the world. For example, Chase has placed students in Washington D.C., Atlanta, and Charleston, S.C.
