Olesja Cormney, a third-year Chase law student, recently received the Judge Judy West Scholarship.
The $1,000 scholarship was established in 1991 by the Women Lawyers Section of the Northern Kentucky Bar Association in conjunction with the Northern Kentucky Bar Foundation. It is awarded to a female Chase student entering her last year of law school. The recipient must be a Kentucky resident who has demonstrated high academic achievement and best exemplifies the attributes of Judge Judy West '77, the first woman appellate judge in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
At NKU Chase, Ms. Cormney serves as a Student Articles Editor of the Northern Kentucky Law Review and a student clinician at the Chase Small Business and Nonprofit Law Clinic. She is also a member of the Salmon P. Chase Inn of Court. As a 1L, she received a scholarship from Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America, where she presently serves as an intern in its General Counsel office.
Ms. Cormney graduated summa cum laude from Transylvania University, followed by an M.B.A. from Sullivan University. She is originally from the Republic of Latvia and moved to the United States at the age of 16.
