Juris Doctor/Masters of Business Informatics

The Juris Doctor / Master of Business Informatics (J.D./MBI) program is an attractive alternative for individuals who wish to practice law or business in an increasingly dynamic and complex environment.

Business informatics is the study of information technology in the context of business. The Master of Business Informatics, through NKU's College of Informatics, will help students develop skills to manage vital information resources found throughout the business world today. With a Master of Science (MBI) degree in Business Informatics, you will find yourself in high demand as a business process analyst, project manager, systems analyst, systems designer, or possibly a database specialist.

Master of Business Informatics
  • Certain J.D. courses serve as electives for the MBI degree, while certain MBI courses will fulfill electives for the law degree.
  • The number of hours to obtain both degrees through the combined program is 108. To obtain each degree independently would be 120.
  • Upon completion of all requirements of the combined program, the student is awarded both a J.D. and an MBI degree.

The Juris Doctor / Master of Health Informatics (J.D./MHI) program is an attractive alternative for individuals who wish to practice law or healthcare in an increasingly dynamic and complex environment.

The Master of Health Informatics, through NKU's College of Informatics, will help students develop skills to manage vital information resources found throughout the healthcare profession. Healthcare providers and related businesses are turning to technological innovation to improve patient care, reduce costs and comply with federal and state regulations. These factors increase the demand for workers with specialized technical knowledge and skills in the healthcare industry - Health Informatics.

Students will gain an understanding of evolving healthcare concepts and learn basic information about technical aspects of health informatics like sophisticated Electronic Medical Record systems, patient monitoring tools and clinical decision support applications. At the end of this program, they will be able to use this knowledge and skills to understand technology related interactions between patient, clinician, and health care providers and solve complex cases.
