An Introduction
A professional, informative and clearly written resume is critical to obtaining legal employment. Resumes and cover letters are the most important writing sample that students can provide to a legal employer, and the Career Development Office offers a great deal of assistance to make sure that students are submitting their best work to employers. We begin working with students in their first year so that they are prepared with high quality documents to produce as opportunities arise throughout their law school careers.
The Career Development Office offers numerous resume and cover letter workshops each semester, either online or through classroom presentations. Our classroom presentations are offered during both day and evening sessions. We are also happy to meet with students individually to answer questions and offer individualized suggestions. Those who are unable to meet in person find that our online resume and cover letter student resources are very helpful.
Interviews for legal employment can take place in a variety of settings. Some employers participate in our On-Campus Interview programs and will interview students right on our campus, while others will conduct interviews at their own office. Our students also participate in a variety of local and national job fairs, including the Patent Law Interview Program, Loyola University Chicago School of Law; Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair; Southeastern Intellectual Property Job Fair; Tri-State Diversity Recruiting Program; and BLAC-CBA Minority Clerkship Plan.
