Dustan E. McCoy '78 Serves as Inaugural Distinguished Practitioner in Residence

Mar 06, 2009 - Dustan E. McCoy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Brunswick Corporation and a 1978 Chase graduate, served as the Chase Transactional Law Practice Center's inaugural 'Distinguished Practitioner in Residence.' McCoy spent Monday and Tuesday, March 2nd and 3rd, at the College of Law interacting with students and faculty in a variety of settings. He participated in lectures, regularly scheduled classes, special workshops, and small group discussions with the students.

McCoy previously served as President of the Brunswick Boat Group. He joined Brunswick in 1999 as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In addition to Brunswick's Board of Directors, McCoy serves on the Boards of Directors for both Louisiana-Pacific Corporation and Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc. Prior to joining Brunswick, McCoy served as Executive Vice President for Witco Corporation, with operating responsibility for a variety of global businesses and functions. During his six years at Witco, he also served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. His previous experience also includes 15 years with Ashland, Inc., where he served as Associate General Counsel with responsibility for the corporate law department. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

The Transactional Law Practice Center is a student-focused specialized program designed to help students develop the basic transactional practice skills they will need to become successful transactional lawyers. Drawing on the resources and talents of a unique partnership of faculty members, practicing lawyers and business leaders, the Center offers students innovative training in fundamental transactional skills. The Center plans to invite a distinguished practitioner to visit NKU Chase each semester to share experiences and insights about the realities of transactional law practice with the College of Law community.
