Thinking About Law School?

The following timeline will assist you in mapping out the application process for the Fall 2010 entering class. The following dates are offered as suggestions; you may begin the process at any time. Please consult the Application Checklist for more information.

January 2009 - December 2009

  • If you have not taken the LSAT, gather information about the dates, deadlines, and study options for the LSAT.
  • Select the best date for you to take the LSAT and prepare your study schedule.
  • Allow yourself three to six months for LSAT preparation.
  • Become familiar with the Credential Assembly Service (CAS).
  • Visit www.lsac.org.

June 2009

  • Ideal time to take the LSAT if your schedule allows.
  • Register for the CAS.
  • Start thinking about who you will ask to write your letters of recommendation.

July 2009 - August 2009

  • Request to be on our mailing list.
  • Work on your personal statement.
  • If you have not taken the LSAT, you will need to plan to take the test in September/October, December, or February.

September 1, 2009

  • NKU Chase begins taking applications for review.

September 2009 - October 2009

  • Visit an NKU Chase representative at a location near you. For our travel schedule, visit our Off-Campus Visits page.
  • Second best time to take the LSAT if your schedule allows.
  • Register for the CAS if you have not done so.
  • Make plans to visit NKU Chase. We host several on-campus events for you to learn more about us. To register for an event, visit our On-Campus Visits page.

November 2009

  • Admissions Committee will begin reviewing completed applications. Decisions are made on a rolling admission schedule with a majority of the offers made between January and May.
  • Arrange to have your transcripts sent to the CAS.
  • If you have not done so, work on your personal statement and meet with the people you have asked to write a letter of recommendation.

December 2009 - January 2010

  • Third best time to take the LSAT to be considered early in the admissions review.
  • Register for the CAS if you have not done so.
  • Plan to submit your application by February 1, 2010 if you wish to be considered for a scholarship.

February 1, 2010

  • NKU Chase scholarship priority deadline.

February 2010

  • Last best time to take the LSAT to be considered for Fall 2010 admission.
  • Register for the CAS if you have not done so.
  • Start researching financial aid options and submit the FAFSA.

March 2010

  • Make plans to visit NKU Chase. We host several on-campus events for you to learn more about us. To register for an event, visit our On-Campus Visits page.

April 1, 2010

  • NKU Chase application priority deadline.

April 15, 2010

  • Acceptance deposit due for admitted students.

May 2010 - July 2010

  • Make plans to visit NKU Chase. We host several on-campus events for you to learn more about us. To register for an event, visit our On-Campus Visits page.
  • Visit the Admitted Students website to get up-to-date information.

June 15, 2010

  • Registration deposit deadline for admitted students.

July 1, 2010

  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools are due in the Office of Admissions.
