Student Success

Adjusting to the demands of a rigorous professional school can be a difficult task, but at NKU Chase you have access to a dedicated educator, with nearly twenty-five years of experience, whose primary responsibility is to ensure that all students work up to their full potential. Professor Barbara McFarland, Acting Director of Student Success Initiatives, not only designs and implements programs to assist all incoming students in preparing to take law exams but also counsels students who have struggled with the demands of law school. In addition, she works with students who believe that their performance in law school, however good, has not accurately reflected the amount of work done or the level of understanding achieved.

Advice and handouts on virtually any topic are available from Professor McFarland: from time management to taking multiple choice exams, from sample motions and memoranda to practice essay exam questions for almost any course. Although every student at NKU Chase is assigned to an academic advisor, and Dean Sherry Porter is always available to discuss academic issues, Professor McFarland is an additional source of information.

Every NKU Chase student should feel comfortable seeking advice or assistance from these dedicated professionals. No concern should go unexpressed, no question unasked. Early in your law school career, stop by and introduce yourself, ask any questions you may have, or just chat for a few minutes. Knowing that resources are available to support you throughout your three or four years at NKU Chase should bolster the confidence of every student. With hard work and dedication, you can succeed in this challenging endeavor, and we pledge to do our best to make sure that you do.
