Practical, Hands-On Training
In today's competitive legal market, law graduates need the skills that will allow them to "hit the ground running" when they enter law practice. Chase offers its students many practical, hands-on experiences. Whether a student has an interest in civil litigation, criminal law, business law, or another specialized area of law, Chase can provide students with practical legal skills while they work on real cases. Over the past few years, Chase students have obtained externship experiences with:
- Attorney General's Office
- City Solicitors' Offices
- Intellectual Property Departments in Private Law Firms
- Internal Revenue Service
- Kentucky General Assembly
- Legal Aid
- National Labor Relations Board
- Ohio Justice and Policy Center
- Prosecutors' Offices
- Public Defenders' Offices
- U.S. Attorney's Office
- U.S. Department of Labor
Students have also had the opportunity to receive practical, hands-on training in the Children's Law Clinic, the Constitutional Litigation Clinic, the Indigent Defense Clinic, the Kentucky Criminal Justice Clinic, the Kentucky Innocence Project, and the Local Government Law Clinic. Also, students interested in judicial clerkships have been able to work with federal judges through the Federal Trial Practice Seminar.
In sum, NKU Chase offers its students numerous opportunities to gain the critical, hands-on experience employers are looking for when hiring law school graduates. Applications and guidelines can be obtained in the Student Forms area.
